Wellness Exams

Veterinarians recommend regular wellness exams for the same reason your physician and dentist recommend them – if you can detect a problem in its early stages, it's more likely to be treated and resolved with less expense, less difficulty and better success. As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Vaccinations, heartworm prevention and routine deworming are important components of wellness care and can prevent diseases that are not only life-threatening, but very expensive to treat.

When you introduce a new puppy or kitten into your home, you’re starting a life-changing adventure that’s sure to bring lots of happiness and joy - and sometimes headache! During these early weeks and months, your new baby will be exploring everything in his or her environment. It’s definitely an exciting time, but it’s also a period when your pet will need extra guidance and protection. That’s where the veterinarians and staff of Abc Pet Clinic can help! Together, we will ensure that your puppy or kitten gets started off on the right paw!

It’s important to schedule a wellness exam as soon as possible after your puppy or kitten comes to live with you. You’ll want to bring any prior veterinary records and pet health information to the appointment, along with a stool sample. It’s also a good idea to write a list of questions in advance. This way you can note items as you think of them, and they won’t be forgotten during the excitement of the visit. During this appointment, Dr. Raj will conduct a comprehensive nose-to-tail exam.

Annual Checkups for dogs old and young entail the doctor checking your pets eyes, ears, hair, skin, and teeth. He will listen to the heart and lungs, making sure that there are no respiratory infections or heart murmurs present. For new puppies and kittens we will provide breed-specific counseling about potential health risks and preventive care that will help to keep them happy and healthy.
